Today I tried out the two Barry M palettes I showed you in the Mini Drugstore Haul post. If you haven’t read that already they were the Natural Glow Shadow & Primer 2 Palette and the Chisel Cheeks Contour Palette. Guess what? I love them!
Here have used both palettes mixed with my everyday make up and a combination of Mac’s Cyber and Viva Glam II on my lips. Ta-da! This is the outcome.
I think it’s safe to say that I am very pleased with my treat day purchases! They are such good value for money and the pigmentation in the eye shadows was above expectations.
I think the only thing I have to fault is that the contour palette should have a lighter options for paler skin. With my skin being so fair, I feel I can only use the lighter two of the shades because the darker looks way to over powering for my skin tone.
I also love how my make up techniques are clearly getting stronger thanks to all you dedicated beauty bloggers and your tips along the way! Although I still have a long way to go, were finally getting somewhere – hurrah!
Treat day, yay! I’m way overdue in needing to try a few new makeup pieces and with moving homes money has been a little tight over the last month or so. So, I thought what more perfect than to do a mini high street drugstore haul? The answer is, nothing! Nothing is more perfect than treating yourself of payday no matter how small and inexpensive it may be.
On I plodded, in this lousy February weather to one of the local drugstores with no idea on what I wanted and these are what I came out with (minus the Buddha hahahahah – I didn’t buy him from the drugstore in one of the make up aisles).
Barry M’s Natural Glow Shadow & Primer Palette 2; Barry M’s Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit; Revlon’s Photoready Concealer.
The Barry M palettes were on offer 2 for £10, originally £6.49 each. I’ve never read a review on either of the palettes so I’m going into those completely open minded. I’ve wanted to try the Chisel Cheeks Contour Palette for a while but never got around to doing it – so I saw this offer and grabbed it.
There are two versions of the Natural Glow Palette; the first being Shadow & Blush, this one being Shadow & Primer. What swayed me towards this one? Purely because I loved the shadow shades a little more. Especially the second from left, it’s like a grey/taupe colour – my absolute fav at the moment!
Have any of you drugstore haulers used any of these products before? How do you find them, I’d love to hear! Drop me a comment or tweet me @horrorgrrrrl
42 posts, 10,000 page views and a platform change later – today marks a year since my first post was published here on Dainty Dweeb and a lot has happened since that day.
Completely uninteresting fact number one – When I started Dainty Dweeb I had dark brown hair, since then I’ve gone from that to ombre, to a full on blondie and now I’m back dark – a full circle.
When I started writing my blog, I was in a job I hated, wanting more than anything to move out so Nathan and I could start a life of our own. I feel like in the past year my life has changed so much for the better. I’m in a new job, Nathan and I are in our own home and I couldn’t be more happy.
I’m so proud of Dainty Dweeb and how far it’s come in the past year, the amazing people I have met – online and in real life – and the opportunities I’ve been given I am so grateful for.
My goals for the next 12 months, is to write more regularly, attend more blogger events and meet more of you loooovely people. I’d like to make more time to participate in Twitter chats – I miss them!
I’d just like to say a massive thankyou to everyone in the blogging community, the readers, the people I’ve had chance to work with. You’ve all been amazing – here’s to another year!
I hope you all had a great Valentine’s Day and celebrated it surrounded with loved ones and food. For the most part of the day I worked – yaay(!) – but, it had to be done.
When I finished work, around 4 o’clock and got home Nathan and I thought we would take a little trip out and enjoy a date night. We decided to go out and watch Deadpool; which is absolutely amazing it’s such a great combination of everything you need in a film and I absolutely loved it!
Anyway, I got this little beauty of a dress from the wonderful ladies over at Boutique of Molly a couple of weeks ago. It’s Hollie Ribbed High Neck Shift Dress*, and although this went out of stock very quickly they have brought in the Bonnie Ribbed High Neck Shift Dress which is very similar.
The thing I love about this dress is that it’s very free-flowing, it’s not a tight fitting dress. Which is perfect for when you feel a little bit bloated because it hides it all.
I styled it with the Dainty Amaris Moonstone Necklace from a little company called The Magic Ones, a pair of tights and cute pair of black ankle boots.
It was a fairly simple outfit because we weren’t actually planning on doing anything for Valentine’s Day until last minute.
But unexpected plans always turn out to be the best, right?
Don’t forget you still get 20% off your whole basket @ Boutique of Molly if you use discount code DAINTYDWEEB at the checkout!
You can also find Boutique of Molly on Twitter/Instagram @BoutiqueofMolly.
*I paid for the product with a discount offered to me, all views and opinions are my own
A with Valentine’s Day approaching quickly, you may (or may not) be thinking of what to get your significant other. But it’s important to remember the sister like crazy bitch(es) in your life – your best friend(s). So I thought I’d create a cute little gift guide to help you choose the perfect gift for them.
Adolescent Clothing Boyfriend T-Shirt £18.00; You’re My Favourite Phone Cover £8.00; Novelty Pom Key Ring £8.00; Lover Lamp Bath Bomb £3.95; Heart Candle £1.50; Mac Honeylove Lipstick £15.50.
Those are just a few of my favourite little gifts that I have come across. Perfect for the girl friends in your life at this time of year. My personal favourite is the Cupid Rhymes with Stupid tee, it’s quirky but cute at the same time.
I hope you all have a great Valentine’s Day whether you celebrate it loved up with your other half, or having a girly day with a few bottles of wine and your best friends.
We are in. We have our own house keys, our own front door to shut on the world. Our own space, to do whatever we please and it feels so good.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s stressful. It’s so very stressful. But knowing that you can shut the world out when needed is nice. We may not be 100% settled yet, as this is all still so very new to us. But that’s the fun of this new adventure.
My favourite thing of all is making my own meals; which a lot of people say I’m going to get sick of very quick. But it’s nice, and I’m enjoying it so much.
The DIY goddess in me has popped up to say hello, and although there is a lot of cursing and shouting but getting to the finished product is very rewarding.
We are far from finished, but will we ever be finished? There will always be a want or a need, something we come across to use and it’s not there. But that’s all the fun in moving into your own home.
I learnt the hard way about where the smoke alarms are, and if they work. They definitely do. I set one off making a fry up on our first full day here – yay! The other leaving the door open whilst in the shower so the condensation set it off. My neighbours are going to love me.
Oh, and thanks to Hurricane Henry, we only have half a fence up; how rude of him.
But, I can not be thankful enough to all of Nathan and I’s family and friends for all of the help we’ve had over the past week or so. Each and every one of you has been amazing, and I can’t be anything other than grateful for that.
I’m now going to enjoy my very first lush goodie filled bath in our own home.
