Okay, so it’s just over a week into 2019. Let’s say hello to the year of self care (for me anyway). I haven’t made any New Years resolutions, because that’s not me. But I have set myself a few small goals and made myself a promise for this year. Hopefully my goals will outgrow me in a few months and I’ll have to make new ones; that’s my plan anyway.
I figured out that if I set myself small goals for the first couple of months in 2019, hopefully I’ll outgrow them throughout the months and have to set myself bigger goals. I guess you could say I’m using the stepping stone method, purely because I feel like this way will work out better for me. It doesn’t work for everyone. You might be sitting there thinking ‘go big or go home’ and that great! If it works for you, you do you girl.
Anyway, if you haven’t guessed already, one of the main things I want to focus on this year is self care. Not just the ‘put a face mask on and get in a nice hot candlelit bath‘ sort of self care. Although that is GREAT and I will be putting it into practice weekly. I also want to take care of myself more in the way of the things I eat, making sure I get the right exercise etc.
I’m not going to do the whole ‘new year, new me’ scenario, but by the end of this year I would like to feel 100% confident in my body. I want to know that I’m doing all that I can, inside and out, to make me feel good.
- Figure out (and stick to) an actual skincare routine
- Hit at least 5,000 steps every day
- Drink a pint of water a day
Here are my small goals which I’m working on for the first couple of months, or hopefully even less! I’m looking to increase these by the end of February at the latest, and then I’m thinking of adding a few more.
- Go to the gym 2 times a week, along side 7,000 steps daily
- Take an hour a week out to read and/or draw
- Stick to my skincare routing
- Drink 2 pints of water a day
I’d love to be able to set myself huge goals, and actually stick to them. But that isn’t realistic for me, and I never stick to huge goals. My one promise for this year is to find my self confidence again. I’m hoping with my small goals, my promise will be easier to fulfil toward the end of the year.
