Things I Learnt from Living with My Fiancé

Nathan and I have been together for a good few years now. We’ve lived together for the majority of our relationship, whether that’s with parents or in our own place. I can tell you now that I’ve learn a fair few things along the way.

He will refuse to watch TV programmes you rave over, such as Love Island for the first few episodes. But before you know it its 8:55pm and he’s rushing around, getting food to munch on, making sure the TV remote is to hand and shouting you to let you know said TV show is about to start.

You’ll lose all personal space. He’s in the bath and you need to pee, so what?

He will use a whole bottle of air freshener after going to the bathroom instead of opening the window, which in turn will choke you out next time you need to go in there.

Cuddles on a Sunday morning are literally THE best way to end the week and prepare you for the next week of craziness.

He is NEVER going to learn how to use the washing machine, no matter how many times you try to teach him.

You’ll realise how much a bed hog you are when he’s waking you up at 3am trying to move you back over to your side of the bed.

It will take at least 3 times for you to say something for him to actually acknowledge what you’ve said.

Cosy nights in on the sofa with your blanket, and a takeaway will become a more frequent thing than a night out on the town.

You will put on weight, its called being content, and its normal.

We’re All Mad Here

Aloha! Nathan and I don’t really do Valentines as such so when he said he had a surprise for me around Valentines Day I went into panic mode. I bought him a funny card and a bottle of aftershave as a fall back just in case we were turning into one of those couples that do. There’s no right or wrong with these types of things, it’s just personal preference I guess.

Rest assured, we are still a couple that don’t really ‘do’ valentines day, however we did do funny cards! I gave him his aftershave and he really appreciated it.

Anyway, back to the reason I’m here. I knew nothing. All I was told was to be ready 3pm sharp on Saturday. To do what? I didn’t know. I literally had no idea what I was supposed to be ready for. What type of occasion, do I dress up? Dress down? Heels or flats? I am not good with surprises, I like to know and be organised. So after threating most of last week, I ended up with a new dress just in case.

Fast forward to 3pm on Saturday I was sat on the sofa in jeans and a jumper and I finally knew what we were doing! We were off to good ole’ Liverpool. We headed to Hatters Hostel for the evening. If you don’t know much about them, they have are affordable accommodation and there are 3 across the country, Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham. Although they aren’t Alice in Wonderland themed, the top hats make me think of the mad hatter.

We had a lovely evening wandering around Liverpool before heading for some JD chicken wings and cocktails from TGI Fridays and hitting the hey. Sunday we indulged in a ‘Spoons breakfast and did a little shopping, well window shopping because something that we can’t seem to part with lately is money. Hence the budget accommodation, although I don’t think I’d feel comfortable in some posh swanky hotel, I’m not that type of gal.

Chester Zoo Photo Diary

My favourite place for a day out is definitely the zoo, so when Nathan suggested it last week I wasn’t going to say no. We usually go once a year, and always go at this time of year purely because it’s quiet. Yes, the weather is a little more chilly but you can wrap up, and being able to wander around at your own pace, not worrying about queuing to see your favourite animals is my idea of heaven.

We’re so lucky in the fact that we’re literally only a 30 minutes drive (if that) away from the zoo, so it’s pretty much just on our door step.

Anyway instead of this being a word-heavy post I thought I’d switch it up a little and share a few of my favourite photos. Enjoy!

2018 Goals & Catch Up | Sunday Thoughts

I can’t actually quite believe that I’m writing this post already. It feels like only a couple of months ago I was working on my 2016 goals and now here we are.

P.S. I thought you might appreciate these pretty pictures of the snow. 

For one, I would like to get a little more organised on the blogging front. I have been hiding under a blanket of real life for at least the last 6 months and slipped away from the blogging world, without reason not rhyme. Sometimes life just happens, right? Although I love my blog, I just haven’t had the motivation I need to actively write, photograph and edit regularly. I have some half written posts, some photographs without any written content and it’s all a little all over the place.

I have a little list of things I want to explore on my blog, and one with a big question mark next to it is more fashion posts. Fashion posts are something that I would absolutely love to get into, however I’m not very confident in the whole fashion post photos front. Which is something I need to overcome if I want to smash this goal. Any tips? Please feel free to tweet me or let me know in the comments.

Now, this isn’t something I’ve really spoken about at all on here previously. But I was in a car accident early last year, I wasn’t the most confident of drivers before-hand but the accident I was in just completely knocked me mentally more than anything. So one thing I want to work on this year is my driving anxiety. I have upcoming therapy and I am getting better day by day, but to just feel okay getting into the car would be a huge step.

Another huge goal for this year is to save, save, and save a little bit more. Nathan and I moved back in with family mid-2017. We want to be home owners, which involves getting a deposit together, and there was no chance of us saving the amount of money needed whilst renting. So here we are. I would like to get a decent chunk together before the end of 2018 if possible, which is resulting in working a lot of overtime and trying not to spend too much money on things which aren’t necessities.

I want 2018 to be the year I cut out the crap. I want to become a much healthier person. I’m not going to say no to unhealthy foods completely just cut down more and more each week, along with incorporating more healthy snacks into my diet. I also need to drink more water, I’ve started suffering with headaches in work and I think that’s a side effect of too much caffeine and not enough water. The only downside of drinking so much water, is having to pee every 15 minutes.

Anyway, I hope you guys are okay. I’m looking forward to getting back in to the swing of things with Dainty Dweeb. So, watch this space.

Hello Autumn | Sunday Thoughts

Let’s get straight to the point. Autumn is my favourite season, my favourite time of year. Why? Because of the fiery leaves, Halloween and of course the cosiest of clothes.

I love to be dressed in copious amounts of layers. Bring on the chunky scarves and cute ankle boots. The burnt orange and warm red tones of not only the leaves, but the make up palettes too. The crisp mornings, the dark evenings. I also think baths are a little more acceptable in the dark evenings, I’m not sure why. But hey, that’s just me.

It seems to strange writing a Sunday Thoughts post again, it’s been months. But I feel like I’m ready again. I’ve had a tough few months, in a lot of different aspects of my life and unfortunately they have impacted my blog. Not because I didn’t want to write, I just didn’t know what to write. I have been scared as to forgetting where to draw the line when it comes to sharing personal things online. But I feel a hell of a lot better so here we are, again.

I’ve finally joined the gym, again. The Moneypenny stone (or two in my case) is definitely a thing, and I am not comfortable with that. So it’s time to get myself back to feeling good about my body image. I also got my other foot tattooed whilst I’ve been away, and being under the needle again felt soo good! I’ve missed being able to spend money on things I actually want rather than the bill monster eating at away at it. Nathan and I have also officially started saving, we actually have some sort of savings for the first time in our lives. Let me tell you coming to payday and still having X amount in your bank to fall back on for emergencies feels SO good. Things are on the up!

Anyway, enough about me. How have you guys been? I’m sorry to have been away for so long, but I’m back. I may not be posting as regularly as I used to but I’m hoping to get back into the swing of things as quickly as possible.

Yes, yes, it’s true – we want it all. We want our little snacks while we binge-watch our favorite TV series, we want zero time at the gym and we want to wake up with the perfect body every morning. And yes, we know it’s virtually impossible to be a couch potato and still look like a supermodel (or at least a regular one), when we step outside our house in the morning. We’re also painfully aware that couch potatoes and models don’t mix and that effortless perfection is a myth. Yes, we all know that one girl who can eat whatever, whenever and when you ask her how she looks the way she does she just nonchalantly replies ‘oh, I just have the best metabolism, I never seem to put on weight’. We hate that girl too. So, what to do? There is a middle ground of course, you know, minimum input, maximum results, so perhaps you could give that a try? Come on, jump on board, we promise you’ll still have plenty of lying around time left in your day. Let’s go!

Move it, move it!

Don’t be frightened, we’re not going to lure you into going to the gym, we know you dread the word. However, there are certain tiny amounts of effort that in the long run can be truly beneficial. For one, try standing up and simply moving a bit more. Dr John Buckley from the University of Chester states that spending all the time sitting, whether in the car, couch or your office is actually completely unnatural and that three extra hours on your feet would burn up 144 more calories and get rid of 8lb of fat a year.

You have to admit – 8lb by just standing, you can pull that off. Another great trick is to move while you’re on the phone – if you know the conversation is going to be lengthy, step outside and take a walk while you’re talking. Ok, once you’ve taken those baby steps, it’s time to get an actual workout, but don’t worry, these are short exercises you can do from the comfort of your own home – every lazy girl’s dream. So, pick one of these 18 amazing YouTube channels that will teach you how to get a great workout while staying near your beloved couch.

Seek expert help

Of course, low-impact exercise can only do much, that’s why they’re called ‘low impact’ in the first place. If there is a particular area that really bugs you, like that pesky fat around your tummy that just won’t go away on its own or that booty that is everything but bootylicious, consider seeking professional help and get rid of all your self-esteem downers.

Luckily, there is an abundance of amazing non-invasive and non-surgical procedures you can undergo to say good bye and good riddance to all that pesky fat, and fat cavitation is one of them. Treatments like this use low frequency ultrasound that basically dissolves and kills fat from the outside, so there are no punctures or incisions – just immediate results. This is every lazy gal’s Holy Grail.

Minor adjustments

The general rule of thumb is 70% nutrition, 30% exercise. If you pay attention and listen to our low impact + treatment advice, all that’s left for you to do are minor tweaks in your dietary habits. Trust us, a little goes a long way. For instance, say goodbye to midnight snacks, sugary drinks and foods in general. These are just empty calories with no real nutritional value. Avoid processed foods as much as you can and try cooking with fresh ingredients for a change. No, healthy food doesn’t have to be bland and flavorless. There are amazing smoothies that you can make to kick the morning off right. Your blender does all the work and you get all your nutrients, including the much needed protein for a great day. Grill and steam your meat and veggies instead of frying them. It’s simpler and it will definitely save you from scrubbing that oily pan. Knowing you’re a real health neophyte, we have found a perfect list of yes and no foods and drinks, so print it and use it as a cheat sheet until you get the hang of it. Good luck, lazy gal!

P.S. Don’t forget the importance of proper hydration – don’t settle for anything less than 8 glasses a day.

I’m Feeling 22!


Hi guys, remember me? A lot has happened in the last 4 months, but we’ll save that for another day. I have been meaning to get back into the swing of things for weeks now, but I just haven’t gotten around to it. Until ping, something clicked and all of a sudden my motivation is back.

I thought I’d start with something simple and ease my way back into writing, so this may be a little bit of a ramble.

Whenever someone turns, or is turning 22, Taylor Swift always springs to mind – hence the cringy blog title. It’s so scary to think that it feels like just yesterday it was my 21st birthday, like it’s a pretty much a whole year since I was writing my Sunday Thoughts #12 post. I’ve been engaged for a whole year. Now that is crazy. We have no wedding plans as of yet, we’re saving for a mortgage deposit. We’re back living with Nathan’s parents for the mean time, trying to save as much as possible. The more the better.

If you were a regular ready before I decided to go on an unplanned break, you will know that mine and Nathan’s birthdays are one day after another. This year, we haven’t really done a lot in the way of celebrating. I think after last year, it has been nice to just chill. Although, we did have a few drinks with friends on the Saturday night so we were a little hung over on Nathan’s birthday, we had a nice lie in and chilled for the majority of the day. As bad as it sounds, it was nice to be hungover on his birthday and not mine for once. Monday, I spent the morning with mumma and afternoon with my Dad, Nathan took me out for a birthday Nando’s in the evening. It was a nice, chilled birthday.

Life’s been pretty mundane lately, along with the stress of moving house, so there isn’t a lot to report. However, I have been working behind the scenes on some new and exciting posts for you. So keep your eye’s peeled.

Life Lately

Where do I start? I know, I’m sorry, I’ve been a little MIA lately in the blogging world. But hey, I’ve been enjoying life. Is that really something to be sorry for? Definitely not, but I am sorry for not keeping you updated. If you follow me on social media, you may have noticed I have been spending a lot of time with family and friends. Although I haven’t really been doing a lot other than chill, it’s been nice.

Can you really believe we’re almost 5 months into 2017 already? In just over a month we will be at the half way mark and that is scary! I feel like I have stepped on to the sidelines of the blogosphere lately, and in all honesty I’m glad. Why? Because it all seems to have built up a whoooole lot of drama. 75% of the things I’m seeing on twitter is people ranting about other bloggers and girl, I just do not want to be a part of that. Bitching is not something I like to be a part of, especially when people don’t give others the chance to defend themselves. In my opinion, we’re supposed to be helping each other out and with my little corner of the internet just being a hobby I don’t want to be involved in all of the drama. I like my little drama free life over here.

Nathan and I now have a little Sunday ritual where we go for a nice Sunday walk. Whether it be morning, mid afternoon or in the mist of the evening. It is so nice to reflect on the week that’s gone, and have a nice little chat about how things are going. With us both working full time and having other commitments outside of work we don’t really get a lot of time to speak in the week, and we usually just end up ranting about work. So a nice leisurely Sunday stroll does the trick to wind down from the weekend and prepare ourselves for the week ahead. PLUS the weather has been beau-ti-ful the past couple of weeks. I am loving Spring already. I just need to update my wardrobe now. Work bonus, why are you taking so long to come around?

I knew this would happen. All in all, this has been a bit of a rambling post but hey! This is my space and I’ve enjoyed updating you all on my life. That’s all for now, I’m hoping that I’ll get my blogging mojo back soon but I’m not going to force it.

Disney Classics Collection

So, if you didn’t already know – I am obsessed with all things Disney. One day I will go to Disney World in Florida, it’s on my bucket list and I am going to go whether I’m 21 or 50. I will live the magic. To fulfil my love of Disney I have collected bits and bobs over the years from ornaments to plush teddies and cups. But, I have been collecting the Disney classics DVD’s for a year or so. But not just the ordinary DVD’s, the special edition holographic cover ones. Don’t get me wrong, my collection is far from complete, but I though it’d be nice to share how far I have got with it.

I currently have 20 of the ever-growing 56 Disney classics, and I’m determined to create a collection of the lot which I can keep for years to come, and maybe even pass down my family some day. Lame? I don’t care, Disney has been one of my favourite things growing up so I am going to share that with my children and what better way to do this?

I have to admit, some of them are still in the plastic wrapping because I don’t ever seem to get chance to sit and watch anything these days – never mind a full blown film! But my favourites have been ripped open and watch repeatedly. I have to say my favourite has always been, and always will be The Little Mermaid. Ever since I can remember, I have loved this film and I don’t think anything will change that purely because of the nostalgia effect it gives me every time I watch it.

One of my more recent favourites has to be Big Hero 6 it just gives me all the feels and makes me so emotional although it’s classed as a children’s film. I have to admit, I am yet to see Moana, but I am looking forward to watching it because I’ve heard so many good things about it.

Why I Did I Start Blogging? | Sunday Thoughts

To a lot of people this may sound like a stupid question, we all started blogging because we enjoy it right? But for some people, like myself, there’s a little more behind it than ‘just because I enjoy it‘.

I have always been very creative in a lot of different ways I suppose, and when you’re a creative person you’re always looking for an outlet. Throughout my educational years, I loved art – I still do! I just don’t get time to sit and draw for hours on end like I’d want to. These days it’s more just of a doodle here and there and because I don’t put too much effort it into my doodles 99% of the time they’re a load of crap.

I also danced for a fair few years, until I finished college. I turned 18 and I just stopped, no idea why or how – just one day the passion to dance was there, and then it wasn’t. I’d love to get back into it but man, I just love to binge on junk food a little bit more these days, and the physique is just no longer there. Which I’m growing to accept, I’m no longer that 18 year old size 6-8, that could dance for hours on end and still be able to walk afterwards. People change.

In my college years, I did art, media studies and dance. Probably the most creative mixture you could come up with in A Levels. I loved the fact that I could create art in all different formats everyday, from music video’s to pencil drawings and so on, so forth. But when I left college and went into full time work. All of that creativity just disappeared – just like that. Poof, and it was gone. Well apart from the fact that my job title in Subway was Sandwich Artist. But there really was no art to making a sub, slap it all on and there you go. From there, I literally had no creative outlet. No reason to do anything, and I was working ridiculous hours too so even trying to fit anything in was much near impossible. But, I did manage to fit a few tattoo sessions in, placing art on my skin is creativity too, right? I had a few idea’s and my fabulous tattooist brought them to life. Although, I think he’d prefer the work awesome, rather than fabulous – sorry Dan!

All of that rambling on brings me here, to Dainty Dweeb. The only creative outlet I have left and that’s what it is to me. My creative outlet. Although most posts are me rambling on about anything that comes to mind, and to some it may not be so creative. But to me, it’s my creativity. I design my own blog headers, and all though my photo’s aren’t that great – I take them all myself. It’s something that subsides my desire to create, for now at least. I see all these independent women who are starting they’re own businesses and shops and I’m sat here like damn girl you could do that. Truth is I really couldn’t. I wouldn’t be able to survive all my bills without my full time job and I certainly don’t have the time around that to all the work that comes with your own business. So high five to you gal’s (and guys) who take the plunge and do your own thing. You are great.
